'Valuable Goods; Cheap Lives'

In India, we have this bad practice of making labourers sit behind transport vehicles to guard and to unload goods. On one side there are strict safety rules like seat belts and helmets for one class of people and on the other side we don't care for safety and acceptable humane conditions for these poor labourers who precariously sit or sleep for long hours, on daily basis in cramped, dark, stuffy, unhigenic and uncomfortable transport vehicles.

This practice has been going on from a long time and I would always feel bad whenever I witnessed it. Hence, I recently decided to tell the sad story of these poor labourers to the world through my pictures. Have named this series as 'Valuable Goods; Cheap Lives' and use my smartphone camera for this work. My aim through this series is to bring awareness to general public, concerned authorities and make all realise the hypocrisy, to care for the poor labourers and to put an end to this rampant practice which has been accepted as normal by everyone.
