Meet Loran, a very productive female leopard -- mother to Luluka (who left her last year) and now a new cub. Loran is to be found way up the Narrow River (Ol Keju Ronkai) and here daughter was further down towards the Mara River. This shot was taken in the early morning as Loran suns/warms herself on a mound near the River and her den before heading off to her den to sleep with her cub. Loran sits with her back to the rising sun, which is good for her; but makes shots along her body more challenging. Now heading of to sleep - but taking the time to check around for prey and predators. Here she turned into the sun and the results are great. The sun is very bright and so Loran is squinting as she looks about. We were able to get below her eye-line and this makes for a great opportunity.
