One Sunday morning in Spring, this bloom somehow caught my eye as I came out of my car in the drive way. It had been raining the previous night. So the fresh morning air and the gentle breeze complimented the warm sun as it's rays broke through trees and touched these little flowers. I immediately got my camera to try to capture the emotions I was feeling in front of this simple beauty. I took several angles and found that the side lighting looking down was best for me. Like a father lovingly gazing at his child. The shadows to left helped highlight the subjects and the green leaves complimented the reddish/pinkish tones of the petals. I find that perfect conditions like this require very little post processing. I just chose the vivid camera profile in Lightroom, cropped using the rule of thirds, reduced some highlights, increased the contrast by a smidge using curves. Then I did some color adjustments, sharpening, smoothing and vignette using ON1 effects. I used this picture to remind me of a powerful quote that I came across - "The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them."
Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist.
