Hiking through an Arizona forest recently, I couldn't seem to find inspiration or generous lighting. I decided to stop searching for sweeping vistas and focus my attention on smaller things. This beautiful burnt tree caught my eye. I thought its scars served as a metaphor for survival, and the struggle that occurs throughout nature.
