Modelled after the Crystal Palace in London, the Glass House was built in 1890, during the British Raj. The Crystal Palace burned down in 1936, but the Glass House still survives. Meticulously maintained by the Horticulture department, the Glass House is the venue for Lalbagh's famous flower shows, held twice a year during August and January.
