This location had been on my list for a long, long time. I know, I know, it's a popular scene, but for good reason. Despite passing it several times in the past year, and it being a relatively short hike from the highway, only on Christmas Day 2017 did I get a chance to make it up there when the weather forecast was promising. After a nightly slog up the hill and a chilly, short night in the tent, this view of not just one, but four volcanoes revealed itself to me. I was the first one up there in a few days, so I got to witness the pristine snow that had fallen during my hike up. A beautiful sight.

Tech talk: this is a near-180 degree panorama, with three rows of images, focus stacked and bracketed to capture the full dynamic range. All images taken back-to-back, no time blending here. Canon 5D Mark III + 24-70 f/4, 0.4s-30s, f/10, ISO500.
