Sanneizaka Street and the Yasaka Pagoda

Gion is arguably the most famous area of Kyoto and was originally built to accommodate travelers visiting Yasaka Shrine. This pagoda is commonly known as yasaka-no-to, however it isn’t technically part of the Yasaka Shrine. The pagoda is actually a shrine itself named Hokan Temple and is a short walk away from Yasaka Shrine. It dates back to the 1400s.

I had a particularly difficult time shooting this pagoda as the area is filled with hoards of tourists and photographers. This is one of my first successful attempts at blending multiple exposures using luminosity masks. Let me know what you think with a comment or like!
