The Ascent Of A Man

Havana, Cuba.

These boys were fulfilling their duty of Military Service which they must undertake for two years. They are seen here tasked with fumigating the streets of Havana. This period of time is very much a coming of age for young men. We see responsibility, earnestness, reciprocity, but a jocularity that reminds us that they're still boys, only dressed as men.
I see the image as a flower, its petals unfurling from the centre, and likewise as boys blossoming into men.
