Fern Rock

I'd been told there was a good chance of snow, so i slept halway up the wall of Cave Creek Canyon in SE Arizona, ready to capture the next morning's weather.

None fell where was, so rather than feeling down that what I'd wanted hadn't presented itself, I went climbing around the canyon wall looking for images.

I'd fallen in love with these little Fairy Sword Ferns, and while photographing them, I saw the light open up across canyon, and had to quickly find a composition and capture that fleeting moment.

So much of a shot is putting in the effort to be in the right place when the moment eventually hits.
