Alpha Male

The Male Red Winged Blackbird is the first to arrive back in the Spring. They arrive 2 weeks before the women so they can fight for the best place to call home, then build their nest. It's a pretty lively time, and they fight, a lot, and they yell at humans, a lot! This particular fellow was resilient, he sat and cried for a mate for at least an hour straight. I was mesmerized.
