It took several mornings to find just the right spot for my tripod & camo net to be ready for this male Red-winged Blackbird singing to claim a territory behind our barn. It was taken at sunrise on May 28 in the northern Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York. Fortunately we had a stretch of good weather. (Scanned from a Kodachrome 64 slide taken with a 2X400mm telephoto before I went digital.) Note to photographers: the sun rises a minute later and a hair to the left (north) each morning in late spring.
