Shot with a Canon 7D, natural light set up, around 2:00pm in the evening.

OMAME, meaning, "young girl ", in her native tribal language, I captured this beautiful young women in a small village in West Africa, while shooting a documentary assignment. She saw my camera and shyly asked for a portrait. She naturally fell into this pose and wanted to make sure her small orange fan was placed perfectly.

We later discussed a much deeper narrative, surrounding the her future dreams and aspirations, how she desperately wanted to change things in her community. This image is remains very dear to my heart.
