These Bloody Hands

I am a medical Doctor by profession and I do medical photography as well. After a 5 and a half hour of surgery, i noticed my colleague surgeon with so much blood on his hands (pun intended) decided to capture it.
To me, this image speaks a lot, as surgeons, if a patient dies on our table, we have blood on our hands, if they don't we still have blood on our hands, so, are we truly innocent?
