Piney Lake, Vail, Colorado, USA, 2018.
After having been on the same spot for two consecutive cloudy sunsets, I decided to give it a try in the early morning hours. Temperatures were around freezing, the grass covered with hoarfrost. I hiked along the bank of Piney River to the the high altitude lake with the same name. As I arrived at the lakeshore and saw the mist rising from the still waters, I felt elated.
To capture the serenity of the scene, I opted for a long exposure of about one minute which would render the mist into a milky flow.
“No lake so still but it has its wave.
No circle so perfect but that it has its blur.
I would change things for you if I could; As I can't you must take them as they are.”
