I felt like I had been punched in the stomach...Aaron Rodgers is done for the game. This was the thought going through my head as I watched him pass by me on the medical cart. I’ve watched the Packers play almost every game since the mid 90’s when I was a young teen, and this was my first time watching at historic Lambeau Field. I was so excited when my wife agreed that we should go to the game, although it had to be the warmest game of the season for her to handle the cold 😂
With the Packers getting pummeled in the first half and watching the best quarterback I’ve ever seen leave the game, I felt deflated. It was hard to imagine feeling disappointed when this was something I had always dreamed of... but I couldn’t shake it.
After a half time of listening to the Bears fans around me laugh and high five each other...Rodgers came out of the locker room and jogged to the sideline. I immediately felt a jolt of excitement.
What happened next was one of the most miraculous things I’ve ever seen. With the Packers still down 20-3 in the 4th quarter, a perfect throw to the corner came out of nowhere. The ball that Rodgers threw to Geronimo was something that is still playing in my head. I saw him catch that ball 20 feet in front of me, and I still didn’t believe it happened...impossible play.
At that point, I told my wife this could go from the worst game I’ve ever seen to the best game I’ve ever seen. I was right.
I didn’t know I would witness what would seem impossible and be one of the biggest comebacks in 100 years of football for the Green Bay Packers. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget.
The next morning, I grabbed my camera to commemorate the weekend. As I took this photo, I could still hear the roars of 100 years, standing in the shadows of Lambeau Field.
