On a small farm outside of Canada's national capital, the leaves are starting to change - a tell-tale sign that winter is coming. In this photo, the foliage paints a colorful backdrop as a mare gallops towards her paddock at the end of the day. The golden hour lights up her mane like fire and, to me, this captures the essence of autumn as it burns brightly before the cool blanket of winter covers up our landscape.
