Backpacking Mt. Rainier makes for wild nights. Clouds started to roll in and I got nervous that they would completely block the Milky Way. They did briefly, but kept swirling around in shapes that were reminiscent of a spiral galaxy, oddly enough.
Then, a jolt of thunder hit - or what sure sounded like it. That’s an avalanche cascading down in the top-center of the mountain, while climbers with their headlamps ascend to the summit on the left in an unnerving dichotomy.
