Shamita 01

I'm a firm believer that photography isn't about the camera and my Canon 5D Mk II had lasted me for almost 10 years and with over 260k shutter actuations and never had a service on the camera, I really had no reason to up grade till recently. I'm in the midst of shooting a series of images to put on exhibition so my requirements had changed as I needed to do large scale prints.

I had recently purchased the Pentax 645z with a 55mm f2.8 lens and this shoot with Shamita was my first with the camera.

Shamita is a contemporary dancer and I have been wanting to shoot her for a while now. This I thought, was the perfect excuse to do both as she has wonderful dark skin and a great test for the 645z.

For the first with the new rig, I'm very happy with the results.

Tones are just luscious!!!!

Lighting was a 1.2m octagonal softbox pointed directly down from above.

Dancer: Shamita Sivabalan
