Black-necked Gartersnake (Thamnophis cyrtopsis)

Although this species of snake is primarily diurnal and crepuscular (Active during the day and twilight), it can sometimes be seen wandering around on a warm summer night. They are often seen at the local lake or pond in the mid-morning to early-afternoon foraging for tadpoles. They are also known to eat toads, frogs, salamanders, lizards, and invertebrates.
