Taken almost right at noon on a sunny August day, the midday light is anything but ideal. The circumstance, however, makes this photo memorable. I was not looking for or expecting a grizzly here as I dodge through the islands in the middle of Johnstone Strait. Here on a tiny rock rising from the ocean, home to one stunted cedar and a salal bush this young bear sits looking rather lost. The little bear proceeded to eat the only salal berry, from the only salal bush on the island as it pondered its predicament.
