Fire and Ice

Fire and Ice

This image is irreplaceable to me. I had setup to take a sunset long exposure over a glacier bay in Iceland. I had spent considerable time planning out an image with photopills. The sunset came, the image took 2 minutes to get the exposure I wanted. I looked at the back of my camera and the image was just terrible.....absolutely terrible. I sat down, and looked around to enjoy the sunset. Behind me the sky was on FIRE, and I had not noticed. I rushed to pick up my camera. And I took this image handheld tripod dangling under the camera and all. It was perfectly framed with just a sliver of water at the bottom, the sky was absolutely unreal, and I remember feeling I had captured something that to me, was incredible. I will never forget that moment. And I will never be able to replace this image.
