The First Caualty Of War Is Beauty

This is a photo of a once beautiful building in Nicosia that appears to have been bombed at some point during Cyprus' troubled past. Ethnic tensions between Greek and Turkish Cypriots started in 1963 and cumulated in the 1974 invasion of the island by Turkey, which has resulted in an occupation of approx.37% of the island by Turkish forces. Bullet holes are scattered all over the building. and someone has written the date 21 April 1967 on either side of the balcony. This could possibly be the date on which the building had been bombed, and its occupants, if alive, were forced to seek a new place to call home.
