Iowa isn't the most exciting place to live but the bald eagle migration that we get to see each year is definitely a perk for photographers. For this image, the late afternoon sun provided a strong, low angle enhancing the detail in the eagles head while adding a nice, warm tone to the image overall. The navy color of the Mississippi River is another gift from Mother Nature at this hour. I like to shoot low to add depth to the image and make the bird "pop" from the rest of the frame.
