Everyone starts somewhere! For me, this was the first time I ever wanted to take a landscape photograph with a DSLR. I was in Portland on a work trip and I was so inspired by the mountain looming over the city, I made a point to drive up to the opposite ridge and setup shop. My exposure was entirely too high for this shot, but I managed to pull back some detail. I also didn't own a tripod yet, being primarily a sports photographer, so I took this handheld using a 70-200mm lens. This is the definition of what happens when a sports photographer takes a landscape.
