Thanks for the “ needs work “ suggestion. I thought about a tighter crop to isolate the hover fly. However, I love the flower and the fly so this is my decision. However, again, I appreciate all and any constructive criticism!!
I don't really like the way the focus falls off at the top of the flower. The colours are attractive and soft but the subject just isn't interesting enough.
Thanks! I understand completely! I could make excuses but in the end , it was my choice. I just purchased a 40mm macro lens that morning and had no idea what to expect from the learning curve. I appreciate your comment!
I actually returned it and I am getting a 105mm macro so that will be a little harder! Lol! I thought about focus stacking. We are moving and I will finally have a proper space to experiment with light and different subjects.. Thanks again and look forward to seeing more of your work.

I suppose you could stop it down a bit, use a tripod, focus-stack, and use additional lighting. Looks like a fun lens to use, enjoy
