In this image I used 2 light sources, the key light on a soft box to the right which lights the dancers face, the other is the bare strobe behind the subject, purposely interacting with the subjects arm, showing in the frame and causing a backlight on her head as well as the shadow in front of her. Since the back strobe was going to be visible in the frame directly face me, just needed to be 2 stops below the key light.
In what way did you modify the strobe to have it fall like it did on the subject's face? I think it's a great effect with that backlight.
