Spent a few hours exploring Dyke Marsh, a bit of a hidden gem nature preserve in Alexandria, Virginia along the Potomac River. I was getting a bit frustrated as there were not many spots that I felt made an interesting composition. Finally, I found a spot along the side of the main path through the park with some little yellow flowers that opened up onto an arm of open and incredibly still marsh water surrounded by reeds and tall grasses. Set up there and waited in anticipation of sunset. Sunset itself was a bit lackluster, but I kept waiting and eventually the sky cooled into a lovely blue hour that provided some lovely purple clouds, sky, and water contrasting with the yellow flowers and green plant life.
Griffin, what’s the saying(s), the more you look, the more you see, and it’s not over till the phat lady sings. Enchanting macro macrocosm, wonderfully done.
