Kilometer 3297. As I'm leaving the city of Darmstadt, I have the choice between two roads: one passes through the villages, the other through the woods. I opt for the second. 25 kilometers further, as the day ends slowly, a retired farmer couple allows me to camp on their farm. They invite me to share their meal: the fattyest omelet I have ever eaten, cooked directly in bacon fat. The strawberry season has started, they give me a bowl filled with it for dessert. Around 9 p.m., I go back to my tent to sleep. Tomorrow, the walk continues.
