Alan Brown's picture

guiding light

This image was captured following the memorial service for a friend. The guy was an extremely fit climber, found dead near a Colorado summit.
My friend loved the mountains, each viewing makes me feel he is shining light down from above.

Hi Alan. very good composition and setting. At my humble opinion, all going great except the dark element at left. perhaps a little more contrast to enhance the back mountains and clouds.

Thanks for your thoughts Vijay. I have posted an alternative in the B&W community group if you'd like to compare and comment further.

Just beautiful Alan.....as usual 😁

Thanks Mike, I appreciate your generous words.

Alan, once again you have crafted a very strong image. Seeing what new images you post is one of the highlights of my Fstoppers day.
I would be fun to see what this image looks like without the tree on the left side of the frame. Maybe distracts a little from the calmness of the rest of the composition.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your endorsement and suggestion Julian, both much appreciated.
In answer to you/Vijay I have posted an alternative in the B&W community group if you'd like to compare and comment further.

Very good sea-land scape...

Many thanks for your kind feedback Matthew.

Hi Alan,
The dark trees at the left are disturbing for me.

By the way, "Guiding light" can the theme of minimal group, if not already done.

I agree with you Vijay. At the time (5 years ago) I thought the trees provided balance, but now I see that they carry to much visual weight.
