Gator Camp Chickee

A boy looks through a set of Palm Fronds, while building a shelter called a "Chickee" (pr. Chē-Kē). A "Chickee" is an open air Seminole style structure, made of fronds and logs, at the Gator Wilderness Camp School for Boys, in rural Charlotte County, Florida. Troubled boys are sent to the camp for an average of 16 months, where they live in primitive conditions before re-entering society.
