Lake Matheson

Arriving at Lake Matheson an hour before sunset there wasn't a cloud in the sky; however, I was very happy to see the perfect reflections of Mount Cook and Mount Tasman that it's famous for. I knew where I wanted to be having spent the morning there checking out various locations and this was my favourite for the reflections. Over the next two hours, I watched the sunset light dramatically change on the landscape in front of me, all perfectly reflected by the lake but there had been very little colour in the sky. Finally, long after the sun had set, the light hit some high altitude clouds that hadn't been visible at all throughout the evening and the sky lit up for this photo.
