Milky Way over Half Dome

Vertical Milky Way over Half Dome at Olmsted Point.

Olmsted point is a less visited spot, compared to other spots in Yosemite. I have been wanting to go here for a while. Looking at Photopills, I was so excited to learn that the Milky Way core vertically aligns with half dome in July. Yosemite National Park has recently implemented a ticketed entry to limit the number of people in the park at any given time. I kept refreshing the site to find a ticket, and I was so lucky one day a single ticket popped up for Friday, the 17th. I grabbed it quickly and convinced a friend to go with me.

I highly recommend Olmsted point to anyone visiting Yosemite. It's out of the way than most spots in the park, but well worth the detour. There was a sense of calmness without crowds that I absolutely loved.
