When I heard about the comet Neowise I had to get my butt out to Joshua Tree and capture my own version of this event. I knew I wanted more than just a photo of the comet so I recruited a friend to model with a wire horn headdress I made with the idea of depicting a demon type character walking towards the comet into the darkness of the desert. I’m still new to night photography so this was very much an experiment for me. I decided on using one strobe set to a rear sink flash with a 13 second exposure to capture the stars in the same shot. I blended two photos to mix in some soft focus and sharp stars to create a more whimsical surreal feel.
