I had always wanted to capture a sunrise in the Blueridge mountains of North Carolina. So one Summer, I rented a home on top of the ridge facing east. I got up at sunrise for three days in a row to capture my favorite image. This was one of them from a collection of dozens. This one expressed the right colors and mood for what I was observing with my eyes. I have always loved this image since. Shot with Nikon D700 fitted with a Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 lens.
