Beginning in 1950, the Kodak company displayed 60 foot images, like slides, as advertising in Grand Central Terminal in New York City. They were called Coloramas.
About a decade after that started, I watched a photographer take one of the skating pond in my very small home town in New Hampshire and I later saw it in the train station. This picture of yours brought that memory back. Unfortunately, it is no longer available online for viewing.
Thanks so much Chaz, I am South African and we don't see snow often.
My husband and I decided to go to New York for a weekend (we were living in Puerto Rico at the time). That was the weekend a major blizzard hit New York and everything shut down.
This picture was taken the day after the blizzard - I loved it. I played in the snow like a dizzy kid! It was magical.
One of my fondest memories! I'm glad my pic brought back memories for you.
