There wasn't much room in front of the dancer so I shot it standing on a box set on the loading dock in front of this hallway.
one of the first photos I took since I started shooting dancers and experimenting with movement earlier this 2020. I had let myself be driven by what clients requested in the past (mostly family sessions) and I was always left unfulfilled, which I then realized was because I wasn't doing what I wanted to do (and couldn't control clients clothing, make-up, among other things). I approached a dancer I had met before through a family member. At first I had proposed to her and then a fashion designer to lend me some clothes in exchange for some nice photos. She expressed some interest but never had the time to set some pieces aside. So I was left with making the best out of what I had. So I decided to experiment and mainly get the feel for working with her. No make up artists - no special wardrobe - no assistants. She brought a big selection of clothing she had and I Brough a few pieces of fabrics. We wanted to go to a historical theater, but found out they were closed some Saturdays. So, I decided to just stay outside the theater and use the clean background and beautiful hallway. Being the first time I had done this type of shoots, I did not factor in how long it would take, so we kept on going even through the mid day sun (luckily the area was semi covered).
