Forgotten Cabin

Of all of the photographs have taken, this is my absolute favorite. I discovered this abandon cabin in Northern Michigan, just outside of Petoskey. The glass in the windows were gone. The floor was covered with animal feces. In one corner, just off camera, was the mummified corpse of a half-eaten possum. I plugged my nose and took a half-dozen photos of the space. Just as I was leaving, I decided to lay my camera on the ground and take one more shot.

I spent the rest of the weekend photographing throughout the area, and I thought nothing more of the cabin. When I got home, I discovered this image. There is very little post processing work done. This is the image that was on the camera.

I love the leading lines, the unused broom against the wall, the color palate, the sense of mystery as to why this place had been left alone.
