First time shooting men. This was part of a series of images from a group test shoot. Wanted something a bit bold and striking for my portfolio. Very fortunate to be working with a very experienced model to get this shot.
I concentrated or looked primarily for a sense of movement, expression and how the eye was drawn throughout the images. Also with it being a test it was also important to find an image that the model not not necessarily have in their portfolio and provide something that showed a different side to them if possible.
The set up is quite basic. In studio. Black backdrop. One light front on. Used a deep Octabox from Godox. Single diffusion. Then played around with black boards on the side. If I had a larger black backdrop I would’ve experimented with full body shots.
