Moonrise over Pots & Pans, Saddleworth
Having popped out to check cloud cover to see if there was a chance for some astro later on, I noticed a sliver of the Moon rising above the Pots & Pans rocks.
Dashed back inside to grab camera, coat and a brew and waited. Fortunately, the clouds stayed clear just long enough to grab this shot.
Cropped and exposure tweaked in post.
The Moon looking unnaturally large isn't PS - it's a manifestation of the so-called moon illusion, in which it appears larger when close to the horizon. It isn't understood why this happens, but photographers can achieve a similar effect shooting with a telephoto lens.
