Taken at the Memphis Zoo. I honestly have no idea what kind of snake it is, but it looks beautiful and terrifying.
UPDATE! We visited the Memphis Zoo again recently and I took photos of the name of this snake. It is a Mangshan Mountain Viper, which is found in a remote, mountainous region of China. It has only been known about since 1989. I still think just calling it “utterly terrifying” is sufficient.
