Nicholas is a jazz pianist. For this image, we decided to incorporate his hands, since they are his "tools" of the trade. For me, his hands abstractly represent the art he creates.
The image was lit with Alien Bees strobes using a beauty dish as key above his head, and a large octabox directly in front for fill. I edited it in Affinity Photo to create the black and white image.
