Woodland Kingfisher 3

Contrary to most of the other members of the family, Woodland Kingfishers are often found in dryland forest areas well away from streams and lakes, where they primarily prey on insects and small reptiles. This little guy was very calm, and put on quite a show from his perch. We watched him for about 15 minutes, till he finally flew off.

I took the image with a Canon 7D Mark II with an EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM EXT lens. The exposure settings were 1/2000 sec at f/6.3, ISO 8000, 560 mm, handheld.
