An adult humpback whale, with just two pumps of the powerful peduncle muscle above their tail, can thrust 80,000 pounds out of the water and into the sky. What an amazing sight to witness.
Over the last several years, I've been pursuing a photo of an adult humpback whale breach a little bit obsessively, so you might say this was my "white whale" captured just over a week ago. Very excited to finally have photographed this unbelievable and unpredictable behavior.
