Finally got to pull off this shot! I’ve been wanting to do a “spinning pistol” effect for this guy for a while. Took this 1/6th scale (12”) Fett out in the backyard and found a nice spot under some trees in the shade. Set him up in a pose actually without the pistol in hand. Using a bit of sticky tac I attached the pistol to a clear acrylic rod, and placed it next to the figure so the lighting would match. Had my camera mounted down low on my Platypod Extreme, sprayed a bit of Atmosphere Aerosol for haze, and fired off some shots.
In post I isolated the pistol and removed the acrylic rod. Positioned the pistol in his hand and added some motion blur. Added a touch of light leak with Boris FX Optics, and finished it all off with some color grading and crop in Lightroom.
