Gasteracantha

The name Gasteracantha is derived from the Greek gaster, meaning "belly, abdomen", and akantha, meaning "thorn, spine". Spiny-backed orb-weavers are sometimes colloquially called "crab spiders" because of their shape, but they are not closely related to the true crab spiders.
