As Qatar prepares for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, it is not forgetting its rich culture.
The Al Janoub Stadium, for example, is designed with its architecture to resemble the barge that was typical of pearl fishing in Al Wakrah. Other stadiums also refer to the traditions of the Qatari State. For example, the Al Bayt Stadium resembles a Bedouin tent, and the Al Thumama Stadium resembles a gahfiya - a typical head covering for boys and men.
