Newport is not just about the luxury we know from the Gilded Age and grand estates. The city is also known by the Newport Marina and the sailing competitions that have been held here for several decades. The America's Cup (colloquially known as the Auld Mug) was held in Newport from 1930 to 1983, but today the modern marina is still one of the iconic venues in this summer resort.
