Golden Goose

Canada geese are common to see just about everywhere in the U.S..They are not a subject a wildlife photographer would seek out to photograph. However, I find the lines of the neck and body to be elegant. I'd much rather create a beautiful image of a common subject than an average image of an uncommon subject. The keys to capturing this image were: 1. being there at the right time of day (just after sunrise) 2. having a cold morning (42 degrees) to create a mist coming off the water 3. positioning the goose behind the sun and laying prone in the wet grass to have my lens as close to water level as possible. Taken at a local park pond in Franklin, TN on 4.11.2023.
