The inspiration for this new project comes from “Japonisme”, the artistic movement that in the late 1800s was influenced by Japanese and asian arts. When the first japanese prints started circulating in Europe they became very popular and people began collecting them, as well as the incredible pottery and the rich and opulent silks and kimonos. Asian art had a big impact on european fin de siècle painters, reverberating throughout the various art movements of that period: impressionism, art nouveau, symbolism and many others.
