Dead Horse

The textures, colors and shapes make this area an absolute playground for photographers. on this evening I wasn't expecting much since it was overcast but the light came through just enough to create some mood in the scene.

Joseph, nice image yes great texture and colors but I have to respectfully disagree on your assessment of the lighting conditions. I refer to the high thin overcast conditions as nature’s great light diffuser. That wonderful foreground color, texture is due to those overcast conditions only one natural lighting condition that may have produced better results. That’s the light after a passing rain storm where thing are still overcast and everything appears to “glow”. A rather rare event, nowhere as dependable as overcast skies for colors, saturation, texture and detail work mostly because it’s shadow free, not great for grand scenery. But for what’s referred to as “intimate landscapes”, abstracts and close-ups often it’s unbeatable.
Yes the light you are talking about helped enable you to blend the foreground into the distance Canyonland scene.
Good piece of work all in all, peace.
